The farewell

Last week we made a farewell party for a friend moving in New York. She found a new job offer in there and her family also lives in New York. This was her dream come true to be with her family. A week before the party, we also help her clean and sorted her old things while the New York movers did the packing of her things. The party was great, fun and emotional but she really appreciate the tribute given to her by her friends and office mates. She thank us all by giving us a personally made card with our faces sketch on it.

One of a kind experience

While ago, my friend who works at an embassy asked me to drop by her office to have lunch with her. Since its my 1st time to go there, I really didn’t know what to expect. When I told the lady in the front desk, I was there for a friend an told the her name, she asked me what company do I represent. I told her I was just visiting, with a big smile on my face. She gave me an ID exclusively for the 17th floor. When I got there, I was amazed to go through their very rigid security measures plus a full alarm system monitoring.

When I finally saw my friend who was waiting for me, the first thing that she said was congratulations for surviving one of the world’s best security systems! I told her she didn’t have to convince me about its being one of the best.

After which, she toured me around their offices before we ate lunch together. Whew! It was a one of a kind experience!

My mentor

Even though we live in the same city, I rarely have the chance to see a very close friend of mine whom I consider my mentor. Mentor, not because she is way older than me, but because she never failed to pass unto me her wisdom about life, love and God.

Before she left for a one year mission in Africa, we met at a coffee shop after my work. We were so happy to update each other. We still wanted to stay and chat but she was leaving that evening. Before we parted ways, she gave me a very nice piece of religious jewelry.

Am I just lucky or what?! Hmmm... I suppose, I am blessed and I am grateful about it! ;-)

Rewards

Because of last year's job well done, we are all awarded an incentive package which includes a 1% stock distribution with a pre emptive right, guaranteed car loan from a local bank with low interest and a medicare supplement for each of us who is at the low management level. It all justified our many efforts last year. This year, we have to double our efforts because the board has higher expectations from us. I know it would be hard work again, but it doesn’t really matter. I love my job so much that all I want for the company is the best and it would follow the best for us all.

A touch of new

When I met my department head this morning on the hallway, he told me we’ll be having a short meeting in the afternoon. Two things came to my mind. One is the desire to be the secretary for the meeting and the way on how to get to the conference room ahead of the others. During our department’s short meetings, every staff wants to be the secretary of the meeting. Why? because as a secretary, you need to document the meeting using our immediate superior's brand new touch screen laptop where you can write on its screen like an ordinary pad of paper. It’s really cool!

To my disappointment, somebody came first ahead of me! And my chance of becoming the secretary for the meeting dropped to zero. :-( Hmmm... Maybe next time. Or I’ll just buy touch screen for myself instead!
